Once the client has decided who they would like to hire, the question becomes who should make the offer of employment (Agency Recruiter, Human Resources or the Hiring Executive)?

Generally speaking, as there are exceptions, I prefer the Hiring Executive making the offer to the chosen candidate. Of course, beforehand, all questions about what the candidate may be looking for should be cleared up and communicated from the Agency Recruiter to the Hiring Executive and HR.

Why should the Hiring Executive make the offer?

1) The bonding process between the new employee and their future boss takes effect right away and and a mutual “win-win” attitude takes shape.

2) It is more difficult for the candidate to go back on his/her word if they accept the job and then back out later. The candidate is going to have to call the Hiring Executive directly and that is not a pleasant task. It is much easier for the candidate to call HR or the Agency Recruiter to back out.

3) Any questions about how the bonus works, performance expectations, start date, preparation for starting can be easily answered if the Hiring Executive makes the offer to the candidate. The candidate is hearing it from the boss in a clear and concise way.

4) A clear understanding of any remaining issues to get the candidate to say “yes” are right on the table to be solved by the Hiring Executive (hopefully right then and there).

Most importantly and within my experience, the hiring executive has a higher rate of success for acceptance versus the Agency Recruiter or HR.

Take the “middle man” out and go DIRECT to get your chosen candidate.
