As I have said in the past, I always learn from my clients, especially the ones that I truly admire.

I have written about Kasha Bartholomew, VP Human Resources at Velocity Credit Union in Austin, Texas; Tony Budet, CEO at University Federal Credit Union in Austin, Texas, Michael Klockenga, President and Owner of Progressive Electric in Lincoln, Nebraska and Karen Ganzlin, Chief HR Officer at TD Ameritrade in Omaha, Nebraska. I have learned from all of these very special people who also happen to be clients.

Another client I admire is Paul Trylko, CEO of Amplify Credit Union in Austin, Texas.

Two areas come to light very quickly when I think of Paul:

#1) When Paul gives you his word, you can bank on it (pardon the pun). I had completed a CFO search for him in 2006 and then proceeded to follow up with Paul with a yearly breakfast since 2007. Every year Paul would say that when the timing is right, he would work with me again as he was very satisfied with the CFO search we did together. Fast forward to 2012 and my firm was awarded three executive searches from Amplify. Paul is a person who keeps his promises over the long term and I truly admire that.

#2) I admire his ability with innovation and for spotting trends. He boldly guided the re-branding of Amplify from IBM Texas Federal Credit Union in 2006. This re-branding changed the look and feel of each branch location to the delight of his customers. Just two weeks ago I met a coaching client in Amplify’s Congress avenue location and my client commented that he thought he had walked into a Starbucks by mistake (and he was impressed by that)!

If you have not had the pleasure of meeting Paul Trylko, you need to. Think a 2013 version of George Bailey as the Bank President in “It’s a Wonderful Life.”

Great guy.
