What’s Your Plan for Finding a Job?

As an Austin retained executive search firm owner, I am often asked “how do I search for the right job?”

Below you will find a broad strategic job search plan that answers that very question.

Incorporate these actions into your plan. If you follow the plan, you will obtain job offers (and not just one) and hopefully within three months.

Good luck and get to work. This is truly hard work but it pays off.

Develop your Connection Points-who should be on your list who can help you find the job you want?

Set an objective, metric driven goal for coffee/lunch meetings per week (3-5 per week). These are “plant a seed” meetings that lead to job referrals

Create a Log (Job Bible) for your search plan actions

Practice and Deliver on the leveraged voice mail for cold calls

Research companies via your city Business Journal plus your city Book of Lists

Utilize Monster, Indeed, Ladders, Career Builder, CraigsList

Get the word out lightly on FaceBook, Linked-in, Twitter

Contact your local Chamber of Commerce

Work with your Placement or Alumni Office

Give something back while networking
