Clients appreciate candidate assessments that are concise and to the point.

Besides sending a resume for the client to review, we send three statements that will help the client understand the candidate’s motivation for wanting the position, the candidate’s operating style and the compelling reasons that the client should consider hiring the candidate.

Here is a specific example:

Motivation: Jeff Smith is looking for his next step for his career and is very interested in the challenges of your opportunity. Jeff is also looking to relocate to Texas and Austin would be an ideal situation as he has extended family living in Round Rock, Texas.

Operating Style: Jeff is more strategic and tactical and also believes that 90% of his job is to develop his people and bench strength. He stated that he understands how to insert his people into situations where they can win but also stretch themselves. Jeff said that he understands business trends in your industry and over the years can be proactive in taking advantage of business opportunities in your sector. (My read is that Jeff is a genuine coach and mentor and a very bright person who understands your industry).

Compelling Reasons to Hire: Jeff can open doors in your industry due to his diverse contacts. Jeff is business savvy and will be credible on day one. Your need is for a process disruptor in the organization and Jeff has the ability and experience to implement that type of change. Relocation to Austin also fits his personal goals.

Keep the candidate assessment notes concise to complement the resume submittal. If the client understands a candidate’s motivation, operating style and reasons to hire, they will have a fuller and more accurate picture to make a final hiring decision.
