This is fourth in a continuing series related to clients I learn from and admire.
One of the best leaders I have had the pleasure of working with is Karen Ganzlin, Chief Human Resources Officer of TD Ameritrade.
Karen has the uncanny ability of getting the most out of people in a very positive way. In my working relationship with her, she sets the tone by establishing a strong relationship (plus throws in a great sense of humor) and simultaneously has a way of making sure you are always growing, questioning and improving. I remember many times debriefing with Karen about candidates and just when I think we have covered everything, she brings in a new idea or question that adds tremendous value to the search project.
Karen is always looking ahead and wants people & organizations to keep improving. She understands from her banking background that business is a competition and employees & organizations will be prosperous if they are open to growth and change and don’t accept the status quo.
After each and every executive retained search we have completed together, I have grown from working with Karen. She keeps me on my toes in the best possible way and I truly appreciate that.
She has helped me retain my edge.
