This year it was my wife Bonnie’s turn to pick the location of our vacation trip. When she selected Japan, I thought it would be an interesting place to visit and really did not think much more than that.
Wow! Just back and the country inspired us for these reasons:
- people: on at least four occasions, when we were lost and trying to find a location, the natives would not only give us directions but walk 2 or 3 blocks with us to show the exact way to find the location we were looking for. Their kindness was overwhelming.
- train system: easy system to use on very clean trains. We visited at least 6 cities and it was easy to ride the comfortable and always on time trains.
- food: much more than just sushi. Many different types of food to pick from.
- scenery and temples: a beautiful country and the different temples possessed unique history/architecture.
- relaxing onsens: these are Japanese bath spas that were so relaxing due to the hot natural springs. They rejuvenated my wife and I due to all of our daily walking and touring.
Thank you Japan. You surprised and inspired us. Your kindness was evident and consistent throughout our trip.
