A client and my firm recently collaborated on a process that proved efficient and safe related to hiring during this pandemic. Here are the steps we took:

  • Our firm interviewed candidates via Skype or Apple FaceTime and we selected five candidates to present to our client.

  • We convened with the client executive team via Zoom to discuss the top five candidate resumes and notes. From this step the client selected all five candidates to continue along the process.

  • The five remaining candidates were asked to interview individually via Zoom for 60-75 minutes with the client executive leadership team. My firm served as the facilitator for crisp Zoom discussions to keep everything on track and insure a consistent interview experience for all candidates.

  • The client selected two candidates to bring back in person to the corporate office. They interviewed each candidate separately over three to four hours using safe pandemic protocols including masking, social distancing and office cleanliness procedures.

  • The client made the candidate selection and the offer was accepted by the candidate.

The executive search process during this pandemic can be streamlined to be efficient and safe so that the client and candidates can reduce the risk of contagion. The role of the executive search firm is key to facilitate a fair process that everyone understands and feels safe.
