Dr. Carl Hansen is a retired professor from the University of Texas at Austin and currently runs a private, Austin-based vocational appraisal and planning agency since 1975. His office conducts vocational evaluations and surveys, projects loss of earning capacity for individuals injured on the job and provides rehabilitation counseling. Dr. Carl holds positions on several advisory committees, including the Board of Directors of Goodwill Industries of Central Texas and the Board of Directors of the University Federal Credit Union, both based in Austin.
I first met Dr. Carl when I moved to Austin in the Fall of 2000. I had a business suite in downtown office space and he was practically next door to me.
Dr. Carl is an amazing person and a true mentor to me. Dr. Carl is older than me (but his mind, physicality and actions are very young) and is a role model on how to be vital, relevant and great as we age. He always has a positive word to say and offers an engaging smile. He believes in people and their capacity for greatness. He has referred me into various non profit executive search opportunities in Austin. When I discuss business challenges with Dr. Carl he quickly diagnoses the problem and offers outstanding advice. No matter the issue, he believes in my potential to improve and be great. I suspect he does that for many people he comes in contact with each day. That is the best way I can put it. Dr Carl AFFIRMS people.
I am very fortunate to have met Dr. Carl in 2000. Just by happen-stance and office proximity that became a crucial break for my personal and business life.
